About the Artist
I’m a Southern Californian artist, and I work mostly in acrylic paint on canvas using a process that derives the subject from a semi-abstract composition. I also love to work in pen on paper or pen and watercolor on paper using a more observational approach.
Whatever method I use, I enjoy painting because it helps me to see the world in ways that I otherwise never would have, whereby the spaces between objects have a presence and the colors of life carry on their own conversations.
Lately, I find inspiration in the patterns, textures, colors, and movements of animals. I also enjoy painting landscapes based on locations in and near San Diego, especially the salt marshes and wetland areas. When painting landscapes, I regard them as a method of orienting myself to the world in a manner that is infused with both documentation and imagination.
